Monthly Recap: The Month of MARCH (2020)

This month made me realize that I'm not a fan of online classes AND work. It's so hard communicating with people and there's usually miscommunication (but not leading up to an argument) and just recently, one of my profs forgot to send our block the details of our of midterm plate while the other blocks got theirs days ago and we only found out about it because someone from the other block said something about it yesterday.

Anyway, this will be the year I'm gonna start posting more of these month recap posts. I planned to start this last January but failed (lol love how this started) but nowwww... I managed to finally get it together and here it is.

LIFE HAPPENINGS

Nothing much happened to me this month..

• COVID-19 is overwhelming and scary. Classes and work suspended here. We're on lockdown. Life in quarantine is necessary but online everything is exhausting - something I didn't expect.

• I love and miss making edits of book characters/romance books so much it reminds me of Tumblr circa 2012-2015 or 16... I can't remember for the life of me but all I remember was how I enjoyed the fans of certain book fandoms interacting and it was beautiful.

• Currently watching the K-Drama Crash Landing On You and so far it's alright. Not really that into it but enjoyable. SO FAR. I actually planned on watching a ton of shows and movies during this quarantine but well....

BOOKS READ

This was not a good reading month for me. I'm here at home because of the suspension but just when I thought FINALLY SOME TIME TO READ!!!, I didn't get that. Our local government issued for online classes to be suspended (due to some students who couldn't access the internet during this time and some students don't have the resources for homework/plates/activities - the latter one is so relatable) but my university said F*CK THAT WE AIN'T FOLLOWING THE LAW so I'm still juggling both online classes AND work.

Chain of Gold (The Last Hours, #1) by Cassandra Clare - no rating
Layoverland by Gabby Noone - 1/5 star
Sweet Temptation by Cora Reilly - 4 stars
Twisted Hearts (The Camorra Chronicles, #5) by Cora Reilly - 2/5 stars
Mornings in Jenin by Susan Abulhawa - 5/5 stars
Bone Crier's Moon (Bone Grace, #1) by Kathryn Purdie - 4.5/5 stars
All His Secrets (Manhattan Misters, #1) by Maya Hughes - 4/5 stars

BLOG POSTS

Now THIS is something I did not at all expect. I read less but I sure have blogged a lot. I mean this number of posts isn't really something compared to the ones I have last year, but it's pretty much an achievement to me considering I'm juggling school and work and there were times I didn't feel like posting anything at all. So yeah, this makes me feel good.

REVIEWS POSTED

Like with the blog posts, I'm also pretty satisfied with the number of reviews I posted for this month. I think posting QUICK REVIEWS help a lot. I've been used to posting single reviews and they're lengthy. Quick Reviews help me with sharing my thoughts but in a short-straight-to-the-point kind. I have a ton of anticipated releases and when I read some of them, they're not really "good" or were interesting and sometimes I don't have enough words to say to them that could accumulate multiple paragraphs BUT I still have something to say, if you get what I mean.

Yours in Scandal (Man of the Year, #1) by Lauren Layne - 4/5 stars
Sweet Temptation by Cora Reilly - 4 stars
Bone Crier's Moon (Bone Grace, #1) by Kathryn Purdie - 4.5/5 stars

QUICK REVIEWS

Doctor Dearest by R.S. Grey - 2/5 stars
Love Her or Lose Her (Hot & Hammered #2) by Tessa Bailey - 3/5 stars
Inappropriate by Vi Keeland - 4.5/5 stars

The Upside of Falling by Alex Light - 4/5 stars
Layoverland by Gabby Noone - 1/5 stars

Here's hoping April will be better for both blogging AND reading.
And for me to stop making a TBR for a while because I never stick to it and it sucks.

Did you have a good reading month?
How was March overall?
Take care and stay safe!

  1. I am impressed your government even considered suspending online classes. I know a lot of districts in my state are working to get internet for every student. One district sent the kids home with laptops and jetpacks to ensure they could get online. I have found I am spending less and less time on social medial. There is a lot of counter productive finger pointing and hysteria, as well as conflicting information. It makes it worse for me. At least you read mostly great books, though, I am wondering why you didn't rate Chain of Gold. Stay well!

    1. Oh that's really good for them. Sadly that kind of thing can't be done here because you have to do it to every school in the country for it to be possible and my government's corrupt af and won't spend funds on education that much.

I didn't rate Chain of Gold not because I didn't enjoy it. It's mainly because my sole reason for reading that book was just because I wanted a glimpse of Will Herondale for the last time before I stop reading any more of CC's Shadowhunter books. Honestly, the Shadowhunter world isn't enjoyable for me anymore compared to the times during TID/TMI and I finally said my goodbyes after CoG the moment I read Will interacting with his kids and being the dad that was. It was enough for me.

  2. Sorry to hear that the online classes are a bit rocky. I hope the kinks get worked out. Nice that the government suspended classes but for your university to not follow the order is pretty bad.

Love seeing all the Lauren Lane books. She's usually so dependable for good, light reads. Lately I've been watching her husband's daily live show. His name is Anthony Ledonne and it's called Quarantine Cooking. I think he actually went to culinary school and he also does stand-up comedy so it's a fun time. :)

    1. The situation's pretty YIKES honestly. My uni really thinks they're the sh*t and we don't even hold lectures, it's just profs/teachers sending us work to do and tell us the deadline. Sounds pretty laidback but not really because they don't just send only one plate, they send tons and while you're still working on one, the next thing you know they got another thing for you to work on.

I loveeee her books. And that's so cool! I might look up some of his shows because this quarantine life is boring me day by day.
