TTT #11: Books On My TBR That I Dropped

Supposedly, today's topic is Books On My TBR I’m Avoiding Reading and Why but I'm not doing that. I already removed all the books I don't want on my TBR because I don't like keeping them there and knowing I'll likely never read them anymore due to me losing interest. Like what's the point

To anyone who wants to clean their TBR, Nick from The Infinite Limits of Love posted a good entry of how she cuts back from her TBR. It's really helpful for those whose TBR piles are turning into towers to mountains.

Anyway, I decided to just post the books I DROPPED

Will I still pick them up? I don't know. Maybe. No. We.'ll see.

*I'm not including sequels in this list because for sure I'd be here all day.

Panic by Lauren Oliver
Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
Five Feet Apart by Rachel Lippincott
An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
We Were Liars by E. Lockhart (this one sucks.. the reason I lost interest in this book is
because I got spoiled of what happened INCLUDING the ending)

Verity by Colleen Hoover
Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
Wicked Saints by Emily Duncan (this is still in my GR TBR but won't be for long)
The Last Letter by Rebecca Yarros
Uprooted by Naomi Novik

Do you have a book/books that you
dropped because you lost interest in them?

Or to stick to this week's theme,
what books in your TBR are you avoiding?

  1. Congrats on pruning your TBR! It's refreshing to do that periodically.

I dropped We Were Liars for the same reason as you. Just not worth it when there are so many unspoiled books around. (that said, I've almost forgotten what the spoilers are, so maybe someday I'll pick it up out of the blue...but I'm not specifically planning on it)

    1. Thank you! Ugh I wish I could forget the spoilers but the thing that I remembered the most was the biggest one and it sucks.

  2. Sorry to hear you received spoilers for We Were Liars. How sad.

Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.

  3. I think it's great that you've narrowed down exactly what sort of books you are and aren't interested in reading.

    My TTT.

    1. It's freeing and refreshing that I don't have hundreds of books in my TBR like I used to. Now it's easier for me to navigate and look for the one I wanna read next.

  4. These are all books I dropped from my TBR too for one reason or the other with the exception of Uprooted and We Were Liars, which I read and disliked so much! I heard about The Last Letter and that book just sounds terrible!

    1. Welp, now I don't even wanna go there aka the We Were Liars world. I didn't read any reviews/feedback for The Last Letter but I do have no plans on reading it anymore.

  5. I'll have to check that link you included on how to prune your TBR because I feel like that's my problem! This is a great list. I have read a few of them and I actually enjoyed a few (Five Feet Apart, Red Queen). Actually those are the only ones I've read on this list! hah. Great job :)

    1. It's really helpful! It's like Decluttering 101 but for TBRs. Thank you!

  6. One from your list I have read and one is very high on my TBR. I really, really enjoyed Verity. So different from anything Colleen Hoover has done before but I was there for it. And The Last Letter is one that I’m dying to read. I just know it’s going to rip my heart out and make me cry, though, so I have to prepare myself. LOL

    1. I was excited for Verity before it came out but then I was kinda scared of reading it because it's not the CoHo norm for me, so I decided to put it off for a while. For a while turned out to be dropping it from my TBR, sadly.

  7. I go thru and drop titles several times per year. I have them all on Goodreads or photos in my phone. No harm in doing that! If it's the right book, you'll find it again.

    1. Right? I have dropped books from my TBR before then picking them back up months/years later and finally decided to read. Some were pretty surprising because I ended up enjoying them. It really just depends on the mood/atmosphere.

  8. I loved We Were Liars, but I understand it's not for everyone. I liked Panic too. Not my favorite Oliver book, but it was good. You were smart to bail on Red Queen. I really loved that book, but the series sort of tanked for me thereafter.

    1. The thing that bummed me out so much was getting spoiled of what happened in the end of We Were Liars. I didn't mind it because I can deal with stuff like that but I like to deal it on my way like I'll be the one to know, not some other person telling it. Sigh.. it's such a sad thing. I also see people loving Red Queen but never talked about the rest of the series.

  9. I definitely need to get myself together and clear house on a lot of my GR TBR. Or just my TBR in general. So many books, so little time. AND SOME OF THEM I'M LIKE, wait, why did I want to read you again? It's funny, though, because I actually recently knocked Verity off my TBR. I can't remember why. But, on the same note, I can't remember why I added it anyways. (Which sounds like a drag at Hoover but it's really a drag at me because it's a constant me vs. my brain battle re: my TBR and why I added certain titles.)

    1. "why did I want to read you again?" is such a mood. That was my mindset while I was cleaning my TBR and when I couldn't find the answer, well goodbye then lol. I was curious how CoHo would write a book that was kinda different from her other books but as time passed by, I was just eh with it, knocking it off my TBR in the process.

  10. Girl, you need to pick up Verity! It's a major must!! I stopped liking CoHo's books but this one is THE one you need to read asap!

  11. That sucks about We Were Liars! Sometimes getting spoiled for an ending doesn't matter because you can still read/watch to find out the build up but for that one...it's actually like the WHOLE POINT of the book. Boo @ the person who spoiled it for you lol

  12. I don't think I've read any of the books you dropped except The Last Letter that broke my heart a million times over and I will never ever read again, lol.

The Red Queen I do have on my bookshelf waiting to be read though. The rest I don't have a lot of interest in.
